A Complete Kit for Organ-Chip Biology
The Emulate Bio-Kit series supports Organ-Chip experiments by providing researchers with everything needed for consistent, reproducible results. The Basic-Kit includes Organ-Chips, portable Pod modules, and essential reagents, while the Bio-Kit expands the offering with pre-qualified cells, consumables, and validated protocols.
This project marked my first experience leading a full packaging design effort. I owned the process end-to-end—from structural planning to visual design—ensuring the packaging was both functional for laboratory use and aligned with Emulate’s innovative brand. Every detail was designed to support clarity, usability, and a seamless unboxing experience.

Designing the Emulate Basic-Kit
Packaging Design, Illustration, and User Experience
For the Basic-Kit, I led the packaging design with a hands-on, problem-solving approach—balancing usability, protection, and visual clarity. The outer blue box was intentionally simple and bold, featuring Emulate’s branding and vibrant color palette to ensure visibility and recognition on laboratory shelves.
The reagent box presented a more complex challenge. To securely house glass bottles, I designed a sleeve-style box with custom foam inserts. A bold pink color was selected to visually signal handling importance, helping users quickly identify and properly manage sensitive materials.
Both packages incorporate custom line illustrations I created to clearly communicate contents and enhance the overall user experience.
Expanding the System for the Emulate Bio-Kit
Visual Systems and Packaging Scalability
For the Bio-Kit, I collaborated more closely with cross-functional partners while continuing to shape the visual direction of the packaging. My primary focus was designing the sleeve system for the larger box, ensuring clarity and consistency across an expanded product line.
I developed a color-coding system for each organ to reduce the risk of mis-handling and improve usability in lab environments. Each color was carefully selected to remain distinct and easily recognizable. Custom line illustrations and clean typography were integrated throughout, reinforcing Emulate’s brand standards and creating a cohesive, professional packaging system.
