The Challenge:

 

The packaging needed to balance lab functionality, usability, and brand visibility. The Basic-Kit had to protect sensitive reagents and components, while the Bio-Kit required a scalable, cohesive system that could grow with additional products. Both sets demanded clear visual communication to guide users and reduce errors in handling sensitive biological materials.

Strategy & Design Approach:

Basic Kit:

• Designed outer packaging to be bold, simple, and recognizable, incorporating Emulate’s brand palette. 

• Created a sleeve-style reagent box with custom foam inserts for secure housing of glass bottles. 

• Selected a bold pink color to signal handling importance and improve user awareness. 

• Developed custom line illustrations to clarify contents and enhance usability. 

Bio-Kit: 

• Designed an expanded sleeve system for larger packaging to maintain clarity and cohesion across the product line. 

• Developed a color-coding system for each organ to reduce mis-handling and improve usability in lab environments. 

• Integrated clean typography and custom illustrations to maintain brand consistency and professional visual quality. 

• Collaborated with cross-functional partners while maintaining control over visual direction and design integrity.
