A Complete Kit for Organ-Chip Biology
The Emulate Bio-Kit series is designed to enhance Organ-Chip experiments, providing everything researchers need for seamless, reproducible results. The Basic-Kit includes Organ-Chips, portable Pod modules, and essential reagents, while the Bio-Kit adds pre-qualified cells, Organ-Chip consumables, and validated protocols.
This project marked my first venture into packaging design, where I led the process from start to finish. I ensured the packaging was not only functional but also visually engaging, creating an intuitive unboxing experience that aligned with Emulate's innovative brand. From structural planning to design execution, every detail was carefully considered to meet the unique needs of the product.

Crafting the Emulate Basic-Kit: A Hands-On Design Approach
This project marked my first foray into packaging design, where I was given minimal direction and little support. Despite the challenges, I took a hands-on approach to create packaging that was both functional and visually striking.
The outer blue box was designed with simplicity in mind, featuring Emulate's branding and vibrant colors to ensure it stood out on typical laboratory shelves.
The Reagent box presented a more complex design challenge. After careful thought and iteration, I created a sleeve-style box with foam inserts to securely hold the reagent glass bottles. To highlight the importance of proper handling and storage, I chose a bold pink color, ensuring it caught the eye of the user.
Both boxes feature custom line illustrations that I created to clearly depict the contents and enhance the user experience.
Bringing the Emulate Bio-Kit to Life: Color, Clarity, and Clean Design
For the Emulate Bio-Kit, I had more collaboration and direction, but I still played a key role in shaping the packaging’s design. The main focus of my work was creating the sleeve designs that wrapped around the larger box.
I developed a color-coding system for each organ to reduce the risk of mis-handling. Each color was carefully chosen to be distinctive enough to stand out, ensuring the boxes were easily identifiable.
Additionally, I created custom line drawings that were incorporated into the design and ensured the Emulate branding was presented cleanly and consistently, maintaining a cohesive and professional look across the packaging.
